I am delighted to share that “Waka Waka” my image of a young endangered mountain gorilla, will be featured in the Explorers Against Extinction, touring UK exhibition this autumn.  The tour offers the chance to see a wonderful collection of both wildlife artworks and photography.

Focus for Survival is the new photography element of the hugely popular annual Sketch for Survival exhibition and sale of wildlife art in aid of wildlife conservation projects. Focus for Survival and Sketch for Survival are part of a wider conservation campaign called Explorers against Extinction organised by UK charity The Real World Conservation Trust.

The aim is to raise awareness about the threats facing endangered species and to raise funds to protect wildlife and wild spaces.

    • Sketch for Survival comprises 26-minute sketches and other original artworks depicting endangered wildlife from around the world and donated by the professional art community as well as by celebrities including Stephen Fry, Dames Judi Dench and Helen Mirren, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Richard E Grant, Nick Park, Mary Berry and Frederick Forsyth. 26-minute sketches because an elephant is poached every 26 minutes.
    • Focus for Survival comprises 13 wildlife images from professional wildlife photographers.

Exhibiting the collection helps to raise awareness about species extinction as well as raising funds to safeguard wildlife and empower communities to fight wildlife crime.

In 2018 the collection sold, via online auction, for over £58,000.

This year’s Focus for Survival gallery features 13 wildlife images from 10 invited professional wildlife photographers alongside 3 ‘Celebrity’ contributors. The collection is a launch pad for a photographic competition called Focus for Survival Introducing that we will run in 2020 to celebrate wildlife and wild spaces.
Images for exhibition in 2019 have been provided by Peter Ian Chadwick, Will Burrard Lucas, Nick Dyer, Robin Moore, Fiona Mackay, Paul Goldstein, Adam Bannister, Margot Raggett and Gucharan Roopra. The ‘Celebrity’ contributors include Levison Wood, Simon Reeve and Gordon Buchanan.
The tour will finish on Thursday 14th November with a special evening at the Royal Geographical Society in London – this will be the final chance to view all three collections (Sketch for Survival, SFS Introducing and Focus for Survival) before the fund-raising auction on Sunday 17 November 2019.
