My partner Raj and I were delighted to find out that our short video which we produced for the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to document their work to monitor and safeguard the small population of critically endangered Nubian giraffe in Uganda’s remote Kidepo Valley National Park had been shortlisted by the judges of the Nature’s Best Wineland Smith Rice International Awards in their Nature in Motion/video category.

The NATURE’S BEST concept began with simple yet dynamic goals: to celebrate the beauty and diversity of nature through the art of photography, and to use this far-reaching medium as a creative tool for encouraging greater public interest in outdoor enjoyment and conservation stewardship. The annual Windland Smith Rice International Awards program evolved from the ambitious mission to become one of the most highly-respected and visually compelling nature photography competitions in the world.

More recently they have introduced a video category, recognising the value this medium has to offer in engaging people with the natural world and highlighting conservation stories.
